People: This is addressed by "Total Quality Management's" approach where the power and ability of staff are utilised to propose and make improvements to the way the Company operates. This is achieved by developing your own TQM programme for the Company in consultation with an expert and gradually training and encouraging the whole Company to join in the improvement process. This is often referred to as "empowerment" where the "Hearts and Minds" of the staff are openly supporting and improving Company operations. There is a bewildering variety of "gurus" and books on this topic from which to choose. Therefore, it is vitally important to select the right TQM methodology to release the enormous benefits that are available. Fifty percent of companies never finish their TQM programme after using "fixed" and inappropriate methodology.
