01-54 Industrial Relations Policy

BEL is interested in promoting good Industrial Relations with all their Clients.

Working with Clients

Philosophically, we believe that cooperation with both Clients and their staff can facilitate the development of an excellent service that will exceed the Clients requirements and consequently be commercially successful as well. We believe that such relationships are constructive when they are considered as partnerships, which utilise the combined resources and efforts of BEL and Clients staff in completing the project requirements.

Client Ownership of the project is then assumed because of the Client participation and thus maximises the benefits of the client planned project

BEL are not interested in duplicating activities that the Client can do more cheaply and efficiently. BEL is also aware that the training of Client staff to support the project is more cost effective for the client. Many of the BEL project Clients take on new local staff to administer the systems we leave behind and BEL welcomes the opportunity to share in the training of the new staff. This ensures that the new method of working has in house champions and will facilitate the rapid and successful use of the new technology

BEL recognise that clients staff have concerns for their position once the improved productivity is achieved without compromising safety and/or quality standards. BEL are experienced in this and all the BEL staff are trained to refer the Client staff questions back to the clients staff asking their line managers on the new methods of working.

Client Unions

BEL Project Directors are tasked to talk with the Client union as requested and agreed by the Client on the Project scope and BEL's expertise within that project scope

BEL is a non-union company however, BEL encourages employers and trade unions to take a positive and constructive approach to industrial relations. It supports the introduction and use of consultation and negotiation procedures to resolve disputes which may arise in individual employment.

Should an industrial dispute occur whilst BEL are working at a clients BEL shall refrain from any form of industrial action whilst promoting good industrial relations practice for the maintenance of industrial peace.

The Industrial Relation Policy is reviewed by the senior management as part of it’s annual Management Review, where due cognisance is taken of Legislation, practical experience and new developments in Industrial Relations thinking.
