01-51 Environmental Policy
BEL is essentially a service provider, we do not create, handle or consume large amounts of materiel or energy, and therefore our impact on the environment is very limited. However, we believe that every little helps and are keen to set an example to others wherever possible.
The environmental policy of the company is:
‘To ensure that, in all areas directly related to the companies activities, steps are taken to minimise the waste of resources and optimise the use of recyclable and environmentally friendly products’.
This policy is implemented in the following ways:
- All computer equipment purchased is energy star compliant
- All computer equipment is switched off at night (with the exception of servers and fax machines).
- All recyclable items, such as printer ink cartridges, are recycled as part of the manufacture’s recycling programme.
- All purchased paper is made from recycled products.
- All purchased spray products are CFC free.
- All purchased equipment is purchased from suppliers who have not used CFC solvents during production. (This is carried out wherever possible)
- Employees are actively encouraged to share cars where practical to do so.
- Employees are required to take part in relevant energy or environmental schemes being implemented at a clients’ premises.
- The company has a flat rate for car mileage, which discourages the use of large engine vehicles.
The Environmental policy is reviewed by the senior management as part of it’s annual Management Review, where due cognisance is taken of practical experience and new developments in environmental thinking.
